Upon joining the firm in 1983, Michel Bourassa has demonstrated a keen interest in building technology, construction supervision and contract management. Under the mentorship of Bernard Jodoin and Michel Desrosiers, he has developed these fields of activity specific to architecture. He was promoted to senior associate architect in 1996 and has since been responsible for construction site supervision and administering the firm’s construction contracts.
Many important achievements have benefited from his merits: his sense of organization, his rigour and knowledge of the different modes of implementation, and the many conditions affecting a construction site. These include the Michal and Renata Hornstein Pavilion for Peace at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the renovation and redevelopment of lobbies at the Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier at Place des Arts in Montréal, the Raymond-Lévesque Library in Longueuil, the major expansion of the Montréal-Trudeau airport, The École des Hautes Études Commerciales, the renovation and expansion of the McCord Museum, the Air Canada headquarters and training centre in Dorval, and the Thérèse Casgrain Pavilion of the Université du Québec campus in Montréal.
He has accomplished developments in multiple building lots, in project and construction management, as well as fast-track, cost-plus, traditional (flat-rate) and unit-price projects, and various variations thereof. The legal aspects of the implementation of projects, and, more broadly, the construction industry are at the heart of his concerns and he has been attending specialized training sessions for years to maintain his level of competence. Based on his experience, he has set up an internal manual of site supervision procedures to ensure the consistency of operations within the firm’s supervisory team.
