The new Gurgaon hospital is situated in a rapidly growing area of New Delhi and must serve the new emerging middle class in India. In terms of organizational concepts, the priorities are the following: reduce, as much as possible, the displacement of medical personnel; clearly define checkpoints to limit the number of people in treatment zones; provide for sufficient public spaces on the main level to accommodate large numbers of visitors who are close to patients undergoing surgery; assure separate accesses for employees, doctors, visitors, users of underground parking, and for delivery workers, as well as for sterile materials and waste materials.

The implementation plan consists of a monumental, elegant central building endowed with a transparent podium. The green roofs offer terraces as well as views overlooking the surrounding landscape. A symmetrical public space incorporates modern design principles with a lining of trees, a water basin and rectangular lawns to complete the architectural whole.
