background

Dolbeau-Mistassini Theatre

The new Dolbeau-Mistassini (Québec) Performance Hall is the winning project of a nationwide architecture contest. The 2 300m² building, with a construction budget of $6.6M, is for the diffusion and promotion of arts and culture.

The building presents a major urban asset; with the existing library, the new building asserts a significant presence and identity.

The organization of the spaces links the spatial experience with functionality. Distributed along a central axis, the different spaces culminate in the 480-seat room, distributed on three levels (ground level/boxes/balcony) in a half-cylinder that cupps the stage. The project, whose opening is planned for summer 2008, is the recipient of the AWARD OF EXCELLENCE 2006 by Canadian Architect.
